Each player starts controlling a square.
The objective of this game is to eliminate your opponents. To do that, you'll
often need to "contaminate" other players' pieces. But, before that, you need
to understand the meaning of your own pieces.
Know your levels!
There are three different square levels. The picture on the left shows
a level 1 square. The easiest way to get one of these is to click on
an empty square. If you click on a level 1 square that you control, you'll
increase its level, making it a level 2 square (the middle square, in the
picture). Clicking on a level 2 square will turn it into a level 3 square
(right square, in the picture). Clicking on a level 3 will lead to contamination.
Contamination?
Yep! When you click on a level 3 square, it'll explode and contaminate
the nearby squares, depending on how each one is occupied: if it's empty,
you'll get a level 1 square, if it's controlled by the enemy, you win a
square with a level equal to 3 minus its current level (if it's a level 1
square, for example, you'll get a level 2 square). If you already control
that square, you'll increase its level (which may lead to chain reactions).
Can you show me an example?
The following picture show's a portion of the board that's about
to get contaminated by the blue player. Can you guess what will happen?
The blue square (above the level 3) will increase its level (becoming
a level 2 square). The red level 2 square on the left will turn into a
blue level 1 square. The green level 1 square below will become a blue
level 2 square, while the empty square will turn into a blue level 1 square!
Can you show me another example?
Sure, here's another example... this time, the blue player is being blocked
by a couple of level 3 squares controlled by its opponents.
After contamination, the level 3 squares controlled by the opponents will
become empty squares. The level 2 square on the right will turn into a level 3
and the empty square below will become a blue level 1 square. If you're having
some doubts, play for a while :).
What's this "bombs" thing?
Bombs are a feature I implemented in order to get that extra random excitement.
If you don't like'em, you can turn'em off, though :). Sometimes, bombs appear
on the board... clicking on them will detonate'em, cleaning a 3*3 grid around
them. You also need to be extra careful, because contaminating a bomb will
set it off!
What are Normal and Expansion?
Normal and Expansion are the two game modes you can choose. In the Normal
game you can place one of your "pieces" in any empty square in the game board.
Expansion limits this, allowing you to only control an empty square if you
control a nearby square.
Do you have a shorter rules description?
Sure do! In the "Play" area, if you scroll down, you'll find a short description
on how to play (right below the game).
