Faculty of Sciences and Technology is the major faculty within the University of Coimbra, an indisputable reference in higher education and research in Portugal, due to the quality of the courses taught and to the advances achieved in pure and applied research in various areas of knowledge.

In FCTUC, we are creating new knowledge and understanding and we want to share this learning with you. The Faculty draws on its involvement in cutting-edge research to make sure you get the best education at all levels. Eleven departments offer programs leading to the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programs.

Informatics Engineering is one of the main areas where theory meets practice. The Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI), heir of the long and proud history of the University of Coimbra, is a new school, different, facing tomorrow. Here we invent the future, for the high level of training we provide, for the excellence of our research, extremely proud of our responsibility in the upcoming of prestigious consolidated spin-off companies.

Situated in Coimbra, City of Knowledge, DEI is guided by the exigency of excellence in training, research and for the promotion of a culture of open dialogue, tolerance and cooperation among all members of its community. Our mission is to form citizens that are technically competent and fully conscious of the challenges they are facing.
